Club Elite gymnasts Frank Baines and Daniel Purvis (team captain) represented Team Scotland at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Australia; making it all the way to the podium. It was a tough ask for the team, as they were one member down. Kelvin Cham had to withdraw due to injury. But their hard work and determination paid off. And the boys won team bronze!

Frank and Dan’s individual performances also earned them places in the apparatus finals. Frank competed in the All-around, High Bar and Parallel Bars finals; where he claimed a second bronze medal. Dan contended for a medal on Rings and on Floor, taking home his second bronze for his Floor performance.

Some of our gymnasts, coaches and parents gathered at the club to welcome Dan & Frank home, and celebrate their success. The boys said that the event was an amazing experience and that they are incredibly proud to have been part of Team Scotlands success. They thanked everyone for their support; with a special thank you to their coach Jeff Brooks.

Way to go Frank & Dan!

Congratulations to Dan & Franks team mates also – Hamish Carter, Kelvin Cham and David Weir. We wish Kelvin a speedy recovery.
