Cheerleading is becoming increasingly popular at the club, with now 5 squads in training. All children are part of the ‘Scorpions’ and are separated into the following teams:
Snappers, Starlites, Dynamites, Stingers and Elite. (These teams are also based on age)
Cheerleading routines involve, dance, jumps, stunts and tumble sections so they work hard each week to improve on all these skills. It goes well alongside gymnastics so many do both here at the club.
The seniors have been competing in UKCA competitions for a few years now and have gained many trophies and titles. They have progressed to Level 3 competitively whilst working hard at level 4 moves for the future.
The stingers formed in January 2015 and started to compete straight away. They fought to improve on all their skills and in July 2016 they represented the UK in European championships in Slovenia. The girls weren’t daunted by this experience and gained an impressive 5th place.
The snappers, aged 5-9years, came to Spring Championships in May 2016 and took home the 6th place trophy! The girls worked incredibly hard for this and are looking forward to competing again.
All Cheerleaders represent the club at local shows/festivals and Christmas displays.
Now with a new chapter starting in our club we begin Scorpion Dynamites and Starlites in their competition journey and wish all our cheerleading squad the best of luck in all future competitions
