Children who show talent and enthusiasm for gymnastics can progress through to out competition classes.  The path for this usually starts with being spotted by one of the coaches during their normal session and invited to join in with a development squad where they will be properly assessed.

These development sessions are by invitation only and not something you can book your child onto yourself and will involve extra hours of training and usually an increase in the number of days your child will train.  Gymnastics is a hard and sometimes scary sport and not all children who are asked to go through the development squad training will make it or want to continue through to the competition squads themselves which will again see an increase in the hours of training.

Competitive gymnastics is a big commitment for both gymnasts and parents with multiple training days a week but it is also very rewarding.  The gymnasts will benefit from some of the best coaching available in the only pitted training facility in the area, allowing them to practice high level skills in a safe environment.  Through the National Development Program they will be assessed against British Gymnastics national criteria and some will have the opportunity to represent club and region in development finals where our future National Gymnasts may be spotted.

Costs for competition squads training varies depending on the number of hours your child will be coached.  Development squad gymnasts will usually train for a few hours twice a week while our senior gymnasts may train up to 5 days a week.  The costs for your child’s training will be explained to you by their coach.
